Proflow

ProFlow™ is the most significant development in fluid control technology since the invention of the ball valve in 1945. It can be used anywhere fluid flow occurs, from high precision medical devices to mass–produced drinking bottle tops to heavy–duty industrial valves.

ProFlow employs the same operating principle as a conventional ball valve, but has a unique actuation system that eliminates the need for a bulky external actuator. Instead, flow is controlled by rotating the unit itself – the mechanism is unique and compellingly simple. This actuation system retains the essential advantages of a ball valve (simplicity, effectiveness, cost), while significantly improving functionality and flexibility.

For example, ProFlow has enabled EverEdge IP to design a bottle top that opens and closes with a simple twist, uses over 55% less plastic than a standard top, delivers twice the flow rate of a standard top, and all the while providing a superior seal.

A major advancement on an already highly effective technology, ProFlow has three critical advantages:
  • By eliminating the need for a bulky external actuator, ProFlow can be placed in line (flush) with a pipe – no room is required for a handle to actuate the valve. Hence for industrial applications ProFlow can be installed into areas where physical space is restricted or at a premium.
  • Eliminating the need for a handle means the essential advantages of the ball valve (simplicity, effectiveness and cost) are now open to a host of new applications, industries and markets.
  • ProFlow moves from ‘on’ to ‘off’ extremely quickly – in as little as 25º of rotation – and with very little torque, making it easier, quicker and simpler to control fluid flow.

ProFlow can be used in both industrial and non–industrial environments – anywhere rapid, reliable fluid flow control is important.

Industrial uses:
  • oil and gas
  • process control
  • chemical applications
  • utility applications
  • anywhere conventional ball valves are used
Consumer applications:
  • disposable beverage containers
  • bath fixtures
  • medical devices
  • marine skin fittings
  • anywhere conventional ball valves are used
