In July 2005, one of the world's largest dairy processors presented EverEdge IP with a challenge: to improve the quality of seal in their HDPE milk bottles. Closure failure is a major source of spoilage for retailers and a negative for consumers, resulting in lost income and good will.

After researching current closure technology, analysing existing bottling and manufacturing processes and discussing our conclusions with blow molding specialists, it became apparent that the root cause of the problem was the inconsistent neck finish caused by the blow molding process. Jarring or placing pressure on the bottle increases leakage, as is frequently the case when bottles are back-loaded by retailers into inclined refrigerated shelves for access by customers.

Using this information, our research team developed VeraSeal™ technology, a major improvement to threaded closures for blow-molded bottles. It is suitable for all blow-molded bottles, regardless of beverage contents, and produces significant improvement in seal integrity.

VeraSeal’s advantages are simple:

• It enables manufacturers to deliver a better quality product to customers and end consumers at the same price as existing technology
